At this week’s Search Engine Strategies conference (I’m at the event), eWEEK’s Steve Bryant posts tips and tricks for marketers who are playing with video, and want to make those videos easily found.

Steve gives 15 tips. The 6 I found most interesting:

“Viral videos can help transfer traffic to your Web site indirectly. The teaser strategy: Upload vids to YouTube, AOL Video etc and make sure to provide links to your sites in the video description.

List your videos in your site map. Don’t forget to put keywords in the titles.

Distribute your videos on multiple sites. Don’t just upload a video to YouTube. Each video site skews to a different audience. YouTube to younger people, AOL to entertainment, Blinkx to geeks, etc.

Watermark your videos. So the brand is always present.

Include a branding element in the first or middle frame of the video. So the video thumbnail will contain your logo.

Put a call-to-action in the last frame of the video. Audio or text.”

This has got to be the coolest video I’ve seen so far that tells a compelling story: “Web 2.0 … The Machine is Us/ing Us” (hat tip to cheezhead for the pointer)

Here’s another video I like, simply because the technology/product is the star: Cool Computer Program

PR and marketing teams are trying to get creative this year with video. There’s already a lot of funny skits out there. I think the companies that can figure out how to be creative, entertaining AND informative — in three minutes or less — are going to be the winners at the end of the year.
