InformationWeek tip: Loose Lips Sink Product Launches
Sharon Gaudin at InformationWeek wrote a great post that every PR person should forward around to their respective companies. Gaudin talks about using security to keep proprietary information inside the firewall, but makes a great point that especially on planes, people need to be aware of their surroundings. We’re seeing a lot of trade and business publications, as well as blogs, returning to a scoop mentality, and all it takes is one comment from an unsuspecting CEO, developer or even intern to undo countless weeks of preparation for a launch.
Gaudin says:

You can have all the best security tools but if someone is going to sit on a packed plane –- or a busy coffee shop or an industry cocktail party — talking about information best kept under wraps, the technology isn’t going to do you any good. Remind your executives and road warriors that a competitor, or a reporter, could be sitting just one row in back of them.
Unfortunately, this is a scenario that every PR person knows all too well …
