I made it through week 2, and am steadily getting my blogger bearings :)

Last week, I spent a lot time reading blogs and comments dedicated to PR and communications. Many debate social media’s impact on our industry. I suspect my blog will spend a lot of energy on the topic as well, so I thought I should first share my perspective on social media.

Social media is about building a web presence. It does not always have to be a two-way conversation. But it does need to be engaging. Most importantly, social media provides a natural extension to our existing communications channels.

I believe social media should not be approached as an entirely separate medium, but requires traditional PR tactics to evolve in order to be successful. And that necessary evolution of our craft is really what interests me the most, and where I plan to focus.
